Leadership Team and Support Team

Team Thrift is a team of specialists who love thrift!  We are experts in sourcing, thrift retail, product lifecycle, inventory management, recycling, thrift retail staffing and happy customers.  We can bring expertise to YOUR business and help it thrive.

We have built a team full of experts that support thrift stores in all aspects of their daily business, from operations to customers!

Our Leadership Team Consists of:

Doug DePew – Chief Executive Officer/Co-Owner

  • Growing up in thrift, Doug worked alongside his dad who worked for one of America’s pioneers of thrift. Doug’s 40+ year career, beginning in 1979 continues and has taken him coast-to-coast through all aspects of the industry – from driving trucks and stocking shelves to opening stores and building long-standing non-profit partnerships.  He’s especially proud of his relationship with Disabled American Veterans, going back to his father opening their first store in Kansas City in 1958!  Doug leads a team that share his strong commitment to the charities we serve – as well as caring for the 700+ employees that work under his leadership and guidance.

John Powell – District Manager

    • Joined Team Thrift in 2012
    • John first came to the company as an Assistant Manager, very quickly became a Store Manager, and was promoted to a District Manager then Head of Stores in 2022.

Chandra Regan – Operations Manager

      • Joined Team Thrift in 2012
      • Strong analytical background
      • Proficient in project management

Salvador Torres – District Manager

      • Joined Team Thrift in 2011
      • Brought his passion and stellar work ethic to the company and has grown along with the company for half of his life! He started his career as a cashier and later achieved the title of youngest store manager and recently was promoted as the youngest District Manager overseeing several stores.

Mary Anne Reece – Controller

      • Joined Team Thrift in 2015
      • BS/BA in Accounting
      • 25+ years professional accounting experience including public accounting, distribution/retail, banking and finance industries.

Mike Ryan – Project Manager

        • Joined Team Thrift in 2013
        • MBA and BS in Business Administration from Pepperdine U
        • 55+ years in leadership and management
        • IT certified and vast project management experience

Team Thrift also has 17 store managers, several warehouses, and donation centers throughout Kansas and Missouri.
